In Norse cosmology, Yggdrasil was not symbolic in the way modern people use that word. It was structural. The vast ash tree stood at the literal centre of existence, its three roots reaching into the realm of the gods, the realm of the frost giants, and the realm of the dead. Its branches held nine distinct worlds in relation to one another. Odin sacrificed himself upon it for nine days to receive the runes. The dragon Níðhöggr gnawed at its roots without ceasing. The eagle and the serpent exchanged insults through the squirrel Ratatoskr, running endlessly between them.
This was the tree the Vikings carved onto their weapons, their gravestones, and their jewellery. This ring carries that carving forward.
What the design shows
At the face of the ring sits Yggdrasil itself, branches reaching to the edges of the engraved panel, roots descending beneath. Surrounding the tree are Nordic knotwork patterns drawn from the same visual tradition found on Viking age runestones and burial markers across Scandinavia. The interlocking forms are not decoration. In Norse craft, knotwork signified continuity, the idea that nothing begins and nothing ends, that the pattern simply continues beyond the frame.
The antique silver finish deepens the engraving and gives the ring the weight of something old. It does not look manufactured. It looks found.
Built to be worn
The ring is cast in 316L stainless steel, the same surgical grade alloy used in medical instruments. It resists corrosion, holds its finish under daily wear, and does not tarnish or discolour the skin. This is not a ring you take off before washing your hands. It is made to be on your finger and stay there.
Right for gifting
For anyone drawn to Norse history, Viking mythology, or Scandinavian heritage, this ring needs no explanation to the right person. It arrives ready to gift.
Carry the tree. Know what it held together.
