A war that began as a pilgrimage
When Pope Urban II called the First Crusade in 1095, the promise was that of a pilgrimage under arms: march to Jerusalem, and the journey itself would be an act of devotion. Those who took the vow sewed a cross to their clothes and set out for the city of the Holy Sepulchre. In 1099, they took it.
Jerusalem then stayed in Latin Christian hands until 1187. This Crusader knight t-shirt is about the reason for that long road: the cross, the vow and the golden city at the end of it.
A closer look at the design
A knight in helm and mail stands in a white surcoat, with a red cross shield on his arm and a tattered banner bearing the same cross behind him. Over his shoulder, a walled city glows in warm light under a golden dome, and mounted knights with banners approach in the distance. At his feet lie a wooden cross, a crown of thorns, a sealed scroll and a spare helm, set among leaves. The artwork is printed across the chest on black.
The shirt itself
The tee is 100% cotton at around 180 gsm. That is heavy enough to hold its shape and keep the print sharp wash after wash, rather than going thin and shapeless by next summer.
Fit and sizing
It has a classic, relaxed fit, in sizes S to 5XL. Check the size guide on this page and compare it with a favourite tee you already own. If you are between sizes, go up one for a roomier fit.
Print and care
The design is printed directly onto the fabric. To keep it looking its best, machine wash cold and turn the shirt inside out.
Made, dispatched, delivered
Each tee is made to order and produced in 1 to 3 days. Delivery is free across the UK. If the size is not right, you have 30 days to return it.
