The ancient Egyptians called it the Wedjat. The word means the whole one, or the restored one, a reference to the eye of the falcon god Horus that was torn out in battle with Set and later healed by Thoth. That act of restoration gave the symbol its power: protection, healing, the capacity to recover what was lost. Pharaohs wore it. Priests wore it. The dead were buried with it. For three thousand years of continuous Egyptian civilisation, the Wedjat appeared on more objects than almost any other symbol in the ancient world.
The signet form
Signet rings carry their own history. In the ancient world, the flat face of a signet was a mark of authority, pressed into wax or clay to seal documents and authenticate identity. The shape says something before the engraving does. On this ring, the Eye of Horus fills that face cleanly, the characteristic teardrop extension and falcon marking reproduced with enough detail to be immediately identifiable to anyone who recognises Egyptian iconography, and arresting enough to draw a second look from anyone who does not.
Available in silver tone and gold tone. Seven sizes from 7 to 13 make it one of the more accessible pieces in the range for both men and women.
316L stainless steel
Cast from surgical grade 316L stainless steel, the ring resists corrosion and holds its finish under daily wear without tarnishing or discolouring the skin. No special maintenance required. It is made to be on your finger through ordinary life, not kept in a box for occasions.
For anyone with a serious interest in ancient Egypt, Egyptian mythology, or the archaeology of the ancient world, a ring with this much history behind the design is a more considered gift than almost anything else at this price.
