Refunds and Replacements

This policy applies to all purchases made through the Histories and Castles online shop.

Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law.

1. UK Sales Only

Histories and Castles currently sells only to customers in the United Kingdom.

This policy is written in accordance with UK consumer protection legislation, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

If you buy goods online, you have a legal right to cancel your order without giving a reason.

The statutory cancellation process is as follows:

  • You must notify us of your decision to cancel within 14 days of receiving your goods
  • After notifying us, you must return the goods within a further 14 days

To exercise your right to cancel, you must contact us by email.

3. How to Return an Item

Before returning any item, you must contact us.

We will provide you with the correct return address and instructions.

Returns sent without contacting us first may be delayed or refused.

4. Condition of Returned Goods

You may inspect goods as you would in a physical shop.

However, you are responsible for taking reasonable care of the items while they are in your possession.

If returned goods show signs of handling beyond reasonable inspection and this reduces their resale value, we reserve the right to make a proportionate deduction from any refund.

5. Return Postage and Proof of Posting

  • Return postage costs are the customer’s responsibility when cancelling an order
  • You are responsible for ensuring returned goods reach us safely

You must retain proof of posting.

If a returned item is lost in transit, we cannot issue a refund unless valid proof of posting is provided.

6. Refunds

Refunds will be issued to the original payment method.

We will process refunds within 14 days of:

  • receiving the returned goods, or
  • receiving valid proof of posting (whichever is earlier)

Original delivery charges are refunded only where required by law (standard delivery rate).

7. Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Goods

If your item is faulty, damaged, or not as described, you have legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

In these cases:

  • You may be entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund
  • We will cover reasonable return postage costs

Faults that appear within 6 months of delivery are presumed to have been present at the time of delivery unless proven otherwise.

Please contact us promptly with your order number and details of the issue.

8. Items That Cannot Be Returned Unless Faulty

The legal right to cancel does not apply to certain goods, including:

  • personalised or custom-made items
  • sealed goods that are not suitable for return once unsealed for hygiene reasons
  • perishable goods

This does not affect your rights if an item is faulty or not as described.

9. No Extended or Goodwill Returns

Histories and Castles does not offer extended, goodwill, or change-of-mind returns beyond the statutory minimum.

All returns are handled strictly in accordance with UK consumer law.

10. Contact Us

If you have any questions about returns or refunds, please contact us.
